The biggest mistake people make when installing an aftermarket radio is mixing up the radio wiring.
One common example of this issue is wiring turn-on wire in place of the antenna wire and vice versa (since they’re colored blue and blue/white in most radios). It causes your amplifier to not turn on, except when the music source is FM radio.
There’s no room for error when it comes to matching radio wires. And for that, we must have prior information about the wiring diagram and color code for your vehicle/car radio.

Alpine Wiring Harness Diagram
The models we’ve picked as examples are CDE-133BT, CDE-172BT, and iLX-W650. That’s because most alpine radios come from either ‘CDE’ or the ‘iLX’ series. While the former two are single-din units, the iLX-W650 is a feature-rich double-din touchscreen model.
We have gathered this information from the installation manuals of these radios. Therefore, if you have any other radio, go through the manual before any other source.

Alpine CDE-133BT Wiring Diagram
- Yellow – Constant 12V wire
- Red – Accessory wire
- Black – Ground wire
- Orange – Dimmer wire
- Blue – Power Antenna wire
- Black/White – Remote turn-on wire
- Pink/Black – Audio Interrupt In wire
- White – Left-front Speaker wire (positive)
- White/Black – Left-front Speaker wire (negative)
- Green – Left-rear Speaker wire (positive)

Alpine CDE-172BT Wiring Harness Diagram
The wiring in CDE-172BT is similar to that in 133BT except for two things. There’s no Pink/Black wire, and the Orange wire is for illumination instead of dimmer.
